Ryan Garcia and Frank Warren agree on World Cup wager
Ryan Garcia and Hall of Fame promoter Frank Warren have agreed to a friendly wager on the outcome of the World Cup match between Mexico and England. Both have agreed to donate to a charity of the winner's choice if their respective nation wins.

Ryan Garcia and Frank Warren, a somewhat unlikely pairing, have come together on social media to agree a friendly wager on the outcome of Sunday’s World Cup clash between Mexico and England.
Mexico will have home advantage in the formidable Azteca Stadium, a cauldron in which the Mexicans have only been beaten twice in the stadium’s 60-year history. Throw in the altitude, an incredible 7,220 feet above sea level, and the English will be up against it in their bid to reach the quarter finals of soccer’s most prestigious tournament.
After England scraped through the previous round, coming from behind to beat Congo 2-1, Hall of Fame promoter Warren – a huge football fan – tweeted: “Not the most comfortable game we’ve ever had but job done, and Mexico next!”
WBC welterweight champion Garcia is no stranger to social media where, generally, he’ll be berating potential opponents like Conor Benn. This time, however, he rather politely asked Warren if he’d like a wager on the last-16 clash: “Hey frank we don’t speak much but if you want a bet for Sunday let me know MEXICO ALL THE WAY”.
Warren agreed. “If Mexico manage to win, I will make a donation to a charity of your choice,” read the tweet from his account. “Speak on Sunday.”
“I really like that idea – Count me in,” replied Garcia. “I will gladly do the same if England somehow pulls it off”.
Garcia, 25-2 (20 KOs), won his 147lbs title in February when he outpointed Mario Barrios over 12 rounds. He has widely been expected to face Zuffa Boxing’s Benn on September 12 but Garcia’s promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, stated it will need the backing of Golden Boy and DAZN.
